What we install

Siding we install.

Fiber cement is the main line, primarily James Hardie. We also install LP siding products and other wood siding products.

Fiber cement lap siding

Horizontal lap boards in fiber cement, primarily James Hardie. This is the siding we install most.

Fiber cement board and batten

Vertical boards with battens over the seams, in fiber cement, primarily James Hardie. A taller, more vertical look than lap.

LP siding

LP siding products, including LP SmartSide board.

Other wood siding products

Cedar siding and other wood siding products. If your house has wood siding now, or you want it, say so in your request and the estimate will cover it.

What we charge

Priced by the square foot.

We price the job by the square foot. The materials and labor are included in the quote.

New construction
Labor priced per square foot
Existing home
Labor priced per square foot
Board and batten, new construction
Labor priced per square foot
Board and batten, existing home
Labor priced per square foot
Cedar siding
Labor priced per square foot on any job
Tear-off and new plywood
Labor priced per square foot
Dry rot
Adds labor, depending on severity

A square foot is total wall area: height times width. The final number depends on the house, so we measure before we write it down.

Warranty

The manufacturer's warranty.

James Hardie fiber cement siding comes with a 30-year limited manufacturer's warranty when the product is bought, as long as it is installed to the manufacturer's specifications. Most other siding products come with a manufacturer's warranty on the same condition.

The 30 years is James Hardie's own figure. Other manufacturers set their own length and terms, so ask for the current paperwork for the product you choose.

How a siding job runs

From walkthrough to final look.

  1. Walkthrough and measure. We walk the house with you, measure the walls, and talk through the product and profile you want: lap or board and batten, fiber cement or wood.
  2. Written estimate. You get the estimate in writing before anything is ordered. How long the job takes depends on the specifics of your house, and we tell you what we know once we have seen it.
  3. The work. We install the siding you chose and haul away debris.
  4. Final walkthrough. We walk the finished work with you before we call it done.

Permits

Siding usually needs one.

Most siding jobs usually require a permit.

Clark County (unincorporated)

The county says a permit is required to replace any siding on a structure, and issues it as a Roofing, Siding and Windows (RSW) permit.

Camas

Lists residential roof and siding work as needing a permit, and says it is generally issued the same day it is submitted when there are no structural changes.

Battle Ground

Lists reroofing and siding among the projects that need a building permit.

Ridgefield

Lists reroofing and siding among the projects that need a building permit.

Read from each department's published page in October 2026. Other cities, including Vancouver, Washougal, Woodland and La Center, have their own rules, so confirm with the building department for your address. More on the window side in our permit guide.

Siding questions

What siding do you install?

Fiber cement lap siding and fiber cement board and batten, primarily James Hardie, plus LP siding products such as LP SmartSide board and other wood siding products.

How much does siding cost?

We price the job by the square foot, measured as total wall area, height times width. The materials and labor are included in the quote. New construction and an existing home are priced differently, and board and batten and cedar are priced differently from standard lap siding. We measure in person and put the full number in a written estimate.

What if there is dry rot under the old siding?

Dry rot adds labor to the job, depending on how severe it is. Tearing off the old sheathing and putting in new plywood is its own labor line, priced per square foot. We tell you what we see when we measure, and the written estimate says what it covers.

Is there a warranty on the siding?

James Hardie fiber cement siding comes with a 30-year limited manufacturer's warranty when the product is bought, as long as it is installed to the manufacturer's specifications. Most other siding products come with a manufacturer's warranty on the same condition. The length and terms are the manufacturer's, so ask for the paperwork for the product you choose.

Can you replace windows during a siding job?

Yes, if you ask. Say so in your estimate request and we include the windows with the siding.

Do I need a permit to replace siding?

Usually. Clark County says a permit is required to replace any siding on a structure, and Camas, Battle Ground and Ridgefield all list siding among the work that needs one. Other cities have their own rules, so confirm with the building department for your address.

Which areas do you cover?

The same areas we install windows in: Vancouver, Camas, Washougal, Battle Ground, Brush Prairie, Ridgefield, La Center and Woodland.
